Ecclesiastes 3:4 (a) "A time to weep, and a time to laugh;-----"

We all need good food with proper ingredients, etc. for nourishment of the body, to keep us healthy, give us strength, and
to keep us in shape physically so that our bodies may function properly. We may have all kinds of good food in our kitchen,
but it must be assimilated to do us any good. In other words, we must open our hearts and receive it with joy and then apply
it to our heart and be faithful doers, not just hearers of the Word. The following poem was written out of an experience I had
a few years ago listening to a preacher one night during what was supposed to be a Revival Meeting. He kept people laughing
just about all the time he was delivering the message. I will confess, I became disgusted. It just seemed to me that there
should there should have been more seriousness in his preaching. Maybe he meant well. I will give him the benefit of doubt.
I will admit that I have a sense of humor, but we should be wise enough to know when and how to handle it.

When souls are hungry they need to be fed,
From God's bountiful table with Holy Bread.
To give us grace and faith to stand,
To carry His Word throughout the Land.
Food for the soul should be our delight,
To give us courage, the devil to fight.
Joking and laughter is too often heard,
When there's so little preaching of God's precious word.
Indeed we should be happy we are save by His grace,
And going to Heaven at the end of the race.
But we should be mindful of our need for the Word,
And the need of others who haven't heard.
Decent joking and laugher is good, in their place,
But never when seeking God's wonderful grace.
Grace to face our problems with care,
When we are unable our burdens to bear.
God's Word gives courage and boldness to face,
The greatest of problems in any place.
We should humble ourselves in one accord,
And feast at the Table prepared by the Lord.
